Major renovation of a house and transformation of part of it into a business for Labrie Refined Catering.
The mid-century house was heavily partitioned on the inside, and its appearance and condition (inside and out) were out of date. The interior was opened up and fully restructured, and the exterior completely revamped. A catering business was to be added and took place in a former extension that had been added on the boulevard side. The entrance to the house is now on the street side. The façade for the new business was pierced and windowed, as well as blown in to accentuate the street presence while serving as a protective canopy for the business entrance. Like a fruit, the skin is brown, the same color as the rest of the wood chosen for the house, while the flesh representing the sunken part is yellow, in order to attract the attention of passers-by while reinterpreting the color of the existing brick of the house.
