The KB3 museum park project was a project with a strong focus on social acceptability, around a sensitive perception given the strong and charged symbolism of the site.
The intention behind the project was to commemorate a legacy related to the important mining past while celebrating renewal. The main clients for the project were both the Thetford Mineralogical and Mining Museum and the City of Thetford Mines. LabNco. had to create a consensus between a focus on highlighting the past and a focus on dreams for the future, while generating acceptability around a controversial project.
Moreover, from a functional and programmatic point of view, the park incorporates: hard pedestrian routes and footpaths, public squares, various facilities and infrastructures, existing buildings, a museum interpretation center, a public market, planted areas, outdoor furniture, outdoor lighting and many other outdoor features and devices.
